It is so nice to finally meet you. My name is Kathleen. I am a wife, neonatal nurse, and of course, Cashion’s mom. when I became a new mom, there were so many things I didn’t know that I wish I knew at the time. I didn’t know where to turn, who to ask for, or what I should ask for. I wished there was a place that had answers for me, so that I didn’t feel so isolated and alone. Ive spent hours upon hours researching every avenue we took as a family so that I could learn as much as possible to give my son the best life that we could give him. I still have so much to learn, but if anything that I have been through can be used to benefit even one family, then it’s worth the trauma, stress, and sleepless nights of worry and fear that it’s taken to get here.
This is a life that typically isn’t planned, but that doesn’t mean it cannot be a life worth every opportunity for joy, community, love, and inclusion.
If you have someone in your life with a child that has special needs, but you’re not sure how to help them, I’ve saved a spot for you at the table.
The Cashion’s Mom site will soon encompass all of the things that special needs parents love. We’ve spent YEARS perfecting sometimes only a very few developmental steps at a time, so if anyone can hand out good advice, it’s our community of families and trusted professionals. Shop ability-based toys and gifts for special needs children! Build developmental progress goals that are easily organized by ABILITY and recommended by the experts.
Sometimes it is difficult to fully understand what families like ours go through, so my hope is that as I recount our own journey with cliff notes of things I wish I had known or know now, that in some small way, it will make a positive difference for your family.
Thank you for allowing me to serve you and the ones you love with a place for support, family resources, medical references, insurance & benefits FAQs, helpful non-profit programs, and simplified care management plans. No family should go through this journey alone. No family should be without access to help. Every child is entitled to a village, and every family deserves empowerment. Having a child with special needs should not be a life sentence of exclusion and isolation. It is my personal mission to bring light and hope to every family to inspire success and radiate joy!
